Summer adventure program
The Start2Finish Summer Adventure Program was created in 2020 to help bridge the gaps in learning losses over the summer, and provide continued support to marginalized children navigating through the difficulties of COVID-19 such as isolation, trauma, anxiety, boredom, and canceled summer activities. Now in its third year, the Summer Adventure Program has been a summer staple for thousands of Canadian children!
The Summer Adventure Program facilitates continued at-home learning and promotes physical activity in a fun and engaging way that keeps kids busy over the summer break and gives them something to look forward to each week. The program offers 8 weeks of activities containing literacy, numeracy, and fitness components, with social-emotional learning and positive education infused within the different weekly themes. Every week there is a prize draw for those who completed the week on time and, at the end, five larger prize draws for those who complete all 8 weeks!
The program is designed to engage kids both physically and mentally each week, while building self-confidence with their weekly challenge accomplishments.
The goal of the Start2Finish Summer Adventure Program is to continue to support children from across the country in an online space, preparing them for a successful re-start and head start when school resumes for what we hope will be a more ‘normal’ school year!
