The Community Matrix
The Start2Finish Pathway of Hope is sustained through our unique community matrix, which involves businesses, schools, community partners and volunteers in the fight to eradicate child poverty across Canada. Start2Finish consistently works to strengthen and expand existing partnerships, as well as develop new associations, enabling us to continually increase our effectiveness in assessing and addressing the needs of thousands of underprivileged children in communities across the country.
Business
Start2Finish develops strong, lasting partnerships with businesses and corporations both locally and nationally, who contribute financially as well as through human resources (volunteering), and donations of products and services. The generosity of our sponsors allows us to create sustainable programs that have maximum impact on the neediest children in the communities we target.
Schools
Start2Finish works directly with local school boards and schools to determine the communities and students who are most in need of our services. With the support and participation of school board representatives, principals, and teachers, our programs operate directly within some of the most at-risk schools across Canada.
The Start2Finish “Kids Helping Kids” Program gives young and teenage students an opportunity to practically help their peers who are living at or below the poverty line. This program has been expanding rapidly, with more and more schools getting their students involved in supply drives and campaigns to collect school supplies for our Backpack Program. Students and teachers alike have expressed a great passion and dedication to helping those less fortunate in their communities.
Community Partners
Start2Finish builds meaningful partnerships with government, local community service organizations, businesses, faith groups, universities and colleges, and many other sectors, to solicit support and human resources within each community. Our volunteers and ambassadors are comprised of a diverse group of former Olympians, professional athletes, law enforcement officers (police and RCMP), government officials (local, provincial and federal), business leaders, retirees, and teachers who work in the respective schools. Start2Finish’s ambassadors help to promote greater awareness of the plight of child poverty both locally and nationally, and our volunteers are vital to the effective implementation, operation and assessment of our programs in the communities we serve.
