JOSHUA HAS MADE “MARVEL-OUS” PROGRESS!

“Joshua is in grade 3. He was in the program last year and was not very consistent with his engagement. He started this year off the same way, getting distracted and talking to his peers when he was supposed to be listening to his coaches. However, during one recent session he was the first participant to arrive. We were talking and I mentioned that I like Marvel movies, and it was like a switch was flipped on inside of him. He gathered all his action characters and the next session he brought them, telling me who his favorite was and more. We had a moment of connection.

Since then, during the physical activity time as well as the social-emotional learning segments, I have been using some Marvel examples. Joshua has been a lot more focused, less disruptive, and has even begun to participate in both the running and the reading activities!”
