AS MUCH AS THE KIDS BENEFIT FROM THE PROGRAM, THE COACHES ARE ALSO ABLE TO ENJOY SEEING THEM THRIVE AND THINK BIGGER!

"Being in my second year as a coach for the Start2Finish program at Sprucecourt Jr. Public School has been exciting. To be able to build on existing relationships with kids, and continuing to be a positive presence in their lives through these unprecedented times. Last year, the coaches were seeing a lot of success across the board in the skills of the children from reading, comprehension, to running. It came to a halt after March break [because of COVID-19] and it left the program up in the air.

This year, Start2Finish was able to bring back the full program virtually. Despite not having the physical presence of being with the kids, the online platform has kept the connections made last year alive. Kids now more than ever need physical activity. Many kids are doing school from home and are not able to benefit from a P. E. class or recess. Being able to use the Daily 20 to get kids up and moving, but also the importance of learning how to read and comprehending new words, is important to their development.

The other day, one of our kids reminded me of a word we taught them earlier in the program. The word was self-regulation, and I could see how they've started to use that in their day-to-day from letting others speak to raising their hand.

I'm grateful for Start2Finish for being able to continue this program in the capacity that they have to allow me to continue to be a part of these kids' lives. As much as they may benefit from the program, the coaches are also able to enjoy seeing these kids thrive and think bigger!"
