I was skeptical at the thought of our S2F children voluntarily participating in additional online learning...but I was blown away!
“I’ll be honest, as a Program Director for Start2Finish, and as one of the coaches who helped to film content for the virtual program, I was skeptical at the thought of our S2F children voluntarily participating in additional online learning, over-and-above their online school curriculum. I have 3 children of my own and I’ve witnessed firsthand the effects of their increased screen time and their lack of social interaction throughout this pandemic. I’m aware also of how these factors are amplified for children and families living in underserved communities.
BUT when we launched our Start2Finish online program prototype, I was more than pleasantly surprised… I was blown away! Not only are many of the children showing up online twice a week for the program, they participate with vigor and enthusiasm. I believe this to be a true testament to the S2F program, the children, and the coaches. Now more than ever there is a need for mentoring programs like Start2Finish to help children (especially in underserved communities) navigate this challenging time.
Since we launched the virtual program I’ve seen our coaches and kids build resilience together, all while promoting physical fitness, literacy, and community. I’m extremely proud to be a part of the S2F family and I’m excited for the chapters ahead!”
